Household Hazardous Waste
Pouring household chemicals down the drain, dumping them on the
ground, or putting them in the trash is harmful to you and the
environment. But there is something you can do.
The Environmental Health Division offers a household hazardous waste

Latex paint: DO NOT BRING LATEX PAINT. (Latex paint is considered
non-hazardous waste. Your waste hauler will take it with your trash
pick-up provided it is in a solid form with the lid removed.
Mix kitty litter or sand in the paint and leave it in the sun to dry.
Once the paint is solid, leave the lid off so the waste hauler can
verify there is no liquid.)
Environmental Health contracts with a licensed hazardous waste hauler
who arrives the same day as the collection to remove the hazardous
waste. Many items get recycled, reused, incinerated, or encased for
disposal.
Remember, household hazardous waste is a guarantee in our community.
We use chemicals daily. Please purchase, use, store, and dispose
carefully to reduce damage to our environment.
