The mission of Emergency Management & Homeland Security is to lessen the effects of a
disaster, both natural and man made. The Office of Emergency Management will coordinate and provide
support to all agencies during the five phases of emergency management:
mitigation, prevention, preparedness, response and recovery. The
Emergency Management
mission includes identifying potential threats, decreasing
vulnerabilities and increasing the capabilities to respond to an act of
terrorism or other threats within Calhoun County.
The Office of Emergency Management is located within the Justice
Complex in Battle Creek and
is open Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. If you require
emergency assistance outside of the normal business hours, please call
911.
The organization depends on many
volunteers to sustain support during a large scale disaster. Other
organizations that are coordinated by Emergency Management include the
Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) and the Community Emergency
Response Team (CERT). Other information
available on this site includes: U.S. Department of Homeland Security,
Calhoun County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), National
Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Weather Service
(NOAA).
