The Support Services Division is responsible for generating, maintaining and monitoring the integrity of departmental records and evidence pursuant to federal and state requirements; providing statutory services to the public; and compiling criminal statistics for the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Michigan State Police. Having operations in two locations, the Criminal Justice Complex in Battle Creek and the Law Enforcement Center in Marshall, eleven employees perform functions that include: law enforcement records, service of civil process, jail bookkeeping and records, administrative reception, fingerprinting for concealed weapons applicants and other non-criminal checks, permits to purchase, gun registrations, complex security cards, county identification, and evidence & recovered property management.

Marshall Office
Mondays - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

*For county residents who do not reside in the cities of Battle Creek, Springfield, Marshall or Albion, or the townships of Emmett, Bedford or Homer.

Fee Schedule

* If judgment is satisfied before the sale of the seized property by full payment of the judgment or settlement, the fee is 7% of the $5,000 of the judgment amount and 3% of the remainder.

Policies and Procedures

• Personal Records Check: Must provide photo identification.
• Permit to Purchase:  Must reside in an area solely under the jurisdiction of the Sheriff's Office (not another police agency).
• Report Requests: Must do so under FOIA and payment is required prior to the dissemination of records.
• Firearms Transactions: Monday - Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at the Marshall Office. Purchase permits available in the Battle Creek Office Monday - Friday*.
