ATTENDEES

Board of Health Health Department
Larry Anderson Dottie-Kay Bowersox
Jean Cook-Hughes Brigette Reichenbaugh
Ben Miller
Jeffrey Mitchell
Ken Ponds

Calhoun County
Greg Purcell

Anderson called the meeting to order at 8:07 a.m. with review of Cook-Hughes’ resignation. Anderson motioned for acceptance of Cook-Hughes’ resignation. Ponds moved. Mitchell seconded. All in favor. Anderson thanked Cook-Hughes for her service to the Board of Health.

Anderson stated the procedure for selection of candidates. The candidate with the highest votes will fill George Perrett’s term (one-year term expiring December 31, 2006). The second candidate will fill Jean Cook-Hughes’ term (one-year term expiring December 31, 2006). The expectation is that the Board of Commissioners (BOC) will swear in the two candidates at the December 15, 2005 meeting. The candidates will begin serving their term in January 2006.

Anderson asked each Board member to name their two selections, results as follows:

  • Cook-Hughes: Kathryn Foerster and Tsoumas
  • Mitchell: Foerster and Tsoumas
  • Ponds: Foerster and Tsouma
  • Anderson: Foerster and Tsoumas
  • Ben Miller: Alberta Duck; No second candidate named

Miller informed the Board that four Commissioners would vote for Alberta Duck. Ponds stated that he feels this process of selecting new Board members is bogus based on this information. Cook-Hughes asked to proceed forward with recommending two candidates to the BOC.

Based on the votes received, Richard Tsoumas will be recommended to replace George Perrett.

Meeting adjourned 8:24 a.m.
