Veterans Affairs Committee meeting convened by Veterans Affairs
Committee Chairperson Todd Kaminski at 8:00 A.M.

Reading of the January Committee Meeting Minutes:
Motion was made by Mr. Savage to accept January minutes as
presented. Mr. Martin seconded. By a roll call vote of 4-0, January
Committee Meeting Minutes were accepted as presented.
Reading of January and February Activity Reports:
January and February Activity Reports were read without ensuing
discussion.
Applications for General Assistance from the Soldiers’ and
Sailors’ Relief Fund:

Cancer Surgery-Spouse assistance in the amount of $1,226.00. |

APPROVED $1,226.00
total amount requested for Cancer Surgery assistance. Mr. Savage
made a motion to approve Cancer Surgery-Spouse assistance in the
amount of $1,226.00. Mr. Martin seconded. By a roll call vote of
4-0, Applicant 07-01 was approved for Cancer Surgery-Spouse
assistance in the amount of $1,226.00. |

assistance in the amount of $645.74 and Automobile Repair
assistance in the amount of $500.00–Total $1,145.74. |

amount requested for Automobile Repair assistance and $500.00
total amount requested for Rent Assistance for an aggregate total
of $1,145.74. Mr. Savage made a motion to approve aggregate total
request of $1,145.74. Mr. Turner seconded. By a roll call vote of
4-0, Applicant 07-02 was approved for $645.74 Automobile Repair
assistance and $500.00 Rent assistance–Aggregate Total $1,145.74. |

Veterans’ Relief Application for
Mortgage Payment assistance in the amount of $1,541.49. |

total amount requested for Mortgage Payment assistance. Mr. Savage
made a motion to approve Mortgage Payment assistance in the amount
of $1,541.49. Seconded by Mr. Martin. By a roll call vote of 4-0,
Applicant 07-03 was approved for Mortgage Payment assistance in
the amount of $1,541.74. |

New Business:
The Director requested that the Committee approve both he and the
Service Officer to attend the Michigan Association of County Veterans
Counselors annual four (4) day spring training conference in
Lansing–April 23-27. Mr. Savage made a motion to approve attendance.
Mr. Turner seconded. By a roll call vote of 3-0, the Committee
approved the Director and Service Officer to attend the Michigan
Association of County Veterans Counselors annual four (4) day spring
training in Lansing from April 23, 2007 through April 27, 2007.
Mr. Kaminski informed the Committee that he, the Director, the
Service Officer, and Mr. Arquette recently conducted a brief
presentation before the Board of Commissioners. Mr. Kaminski stated
that the premise encompassing the presentation was to briefly
delineate the accomplishments of the Calhoun County Veterans Affairs
office over the past two years. Mr. Kaminski stated that the
presentation seemed to be well received by each Commissioner.
Mr. Savage made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mr. Turner seconded.
By a roll call vote of 3-0, the meeting was adjourned at 9:00AM.
