he Director informed the Committee that the Executive Committee of
the Michigan Association of County Veterans Counselors (MACVC)
(Director is the Legislative Officer) delivered a 50 minute
delineation of the MACVC’s purpose and objective to the veterans
affairs sub-committee of the State Senate. The presentation included a
reiteration of the absolute importance, role, and impact that county
veterans counselors have on the economic paradigm in the state of
Michigan–i.e. a redistribution of federal tax dollars that range well
into the millions annually. The MACVC presentation further defined the
role and impact that the $50,000 state MACVC training appropriation
has on funding the biannual training conferences. Essentially, the
$50,000 training appropriation is intended to insure that a consistent
information delivery model is incorporated in each county veterans
office. The Director informed the Committee that the historic $50,000
training appropriation to the MACVC had been unjustifiably revoked 12
days prior to our spring training conference. The Director also
informed the Committee of the devastating if not double crossing role
that the Department of Michigan Veterans Affairs office played in
allowing our $50,000 training appropriation to be revoked.
